Definition

An employee can claim exemption against LTA, twice in a block of four years as specified by the Income tax department. In case the employee has not claimed two exemptions in a block, he or she can claim exemption on one journey carried forward but only in the first year of the current block. Thus, when an exemption is carried forward, the current block has a maximum of three exemptions where the first one must claimed in the first year of the block.

Indicates that the employee has claimed exemption against a carried forward amount as specified in the field Exempt amount.
