Definition
A percentage of the employee's monthly relevant income below the maximum, which the employer opts to contribute to MPF as an addition to mandatory contribution.
This amount is summed up with Employer contribution of relevant income in excess of the maximum and Additional amount the employer contributes to get the employer's total voluntary contribution to MPF.
Examples
For example, Employee A's monthly relevant income is $35000, and his employer chooses to contribute 5% for the relevant income below the maximum, 3% of relevant incme above the maximum, plus $500 as a fixed amount per payroll period. The employer's total voluntary contribution for the employee is calculated as:
(35000 - 20000) * 3% + 20000 * 5% + 500 = 1950
