Definition
The exempted amount is used to determine whether the severance payment can be fully or partly exempted from income tax. This amount is calculated as follows:
The exempted amount =3 x social average yearly salary in the previous year.
Service calculation rules and Exempted amounts for Beijing (SPBJ) and Shanghai (SPSH) are provided.
The social average yearly salary in the previous year is publicized every year by municipal authority. You can adjust these values to fulfill local regulations.
