Use
The standard SAP system contains cross-country and country-specific assignments of grouping rules to grouping reasons. If the Changeability of grouping reason assignments indicator is set for one of these assignments, you can define a customer-specific cross-country or country-specific assignment instead of the assignment delivered in the standard system.
Each assignment of a grouping rule to a grouping reason corresponds to one of the following configuration types:
- customer-specific country-specific assignment
- customer-specific cross-country assignment
- country-specific standard assignment
- cross-country standard assignment
To determine the correct grouping rule for a grouping reason, the system evaluates the assignments in the specified sequence. This process runs as follows:
Each personnel assignment is assigned to a country grouping. The system first checks according to this country grouping whether a customer-specific country-specific assignment exists. If no such assignment exists, the system then checks whether a customer-specific cross-country assignment exists. If no customer-specific assignment exists at all, the system first checks the country-specific standard assignment and then finally the cross-country standard assignment.

Example
In your SAP system, the following grouping rules are assigned to the ABCD grouping reason:
Ctry Grp Grp. Rule Config. Category
10 ZCUS customer-specific country-specific assignment
none ZCXY customer-specific cross-country assignment
none 0SAB cross-country standard assignment
When the system processes data for the grouping reason ABCD, it uses the following grouping rules:
- Grouping rule ZCUS for personnel assignments that belong to country grouping 10 (USA).
- Grouping rule ZCXY for personnel assignments that belong to other country groupings.
