Definition
In 'Personal Calendar - Austria', the symbol for public holiday pay is set instead of the absence symbol for sickness benefit if a public holiday from public holiday class 1 is to be prioritized over the absence, and if there is still a payment entitlement.
The system uses the following information to determine whether an entitlement to public holiday pay exists for a public holiday from public holiday class 1:
- An entitlement to public holiday pay exists if the employee:
- Had the day off solely because it was a public holiday but would usually have worked according to the daily work schedule (view V_T550A).
In this case, the number of planned working hours, according to the daily work schedule, is greater than zero and the day type, according to the work schedule (transaction PT03), is not 0 or blank and therefore not a working day (see also the Example: Work Schedule for day 01 (THU, Thursday)). - Would not have worked on this day (according to the daily work schedule) but the day was a valid workday (according to the work schedule).
In this case, the number of planned working hours, according to the daily work schedule, is zero and the day type, according to the work schedule (transaction PT03), is 0 or blank and therefore a working day (see also the Example: Work Schedule for day 03 (SAT, Saturday)). - There is no entitlement to public holiday pay if the employee:
- Would not have worked on this day (according to the daily work schedule) and the day was a valid day off (according to the work schedule). The employee would therefore have had this day off even if it did not fall on a public holiday.
In this case, the number of planned working hours, according to the daily work schedule, is zero and the day type, according to the work schedule (transaction PT03), is not 0 or blank (see also the Example: Work Schedule for day 04 (SUN, Sunday)). - Would have worked on this day (according to the daily work schedule) and the day would have been counted as a workday (according to the work schedule).
In this case, the number of planned working hours, according to the daily work schedule, is greater than zero and the day type, according to the work schedule (transaction PT03), is 0 or blank (see also the Example: Work Schedule for day 02 (FRI, Friday)).

Daily work schedule = NORM: Planned working hours greater than zero
Daily work schedule = OFF: Planned working hours equal to zero
Note: The public holiday class in the work schedule (transaction PT03) may differ from the public holiday class in the personal work schedule (see the Absences (2001) infotype) if the public holiday depends on the employee's religion, for example.
Additional Information:
In order to ensure that the system automatically assigns a particular day type (depending on the weekday) to public holidays when you generate work schedules, define a corresponding selection rule for day types in the view T553A and use this rule in the relevant work schedule rules (view V_T508A).
Example: Selection Rule for Public Holiday Dependency on the Weekday
You want employees whose absences are evaluated per calendar day (see the view T5A4A - 'General Absence Data') to be entitled to public holiday pay for any public holidays from public holiday class 1 that fall on a Saturday even though, according to the daily work schedule, there is no planned work on that day. However, you do not want employees to be entitled to public holiday pay for any public holidays from public holiday class 1 that fall on a Sunday.
