Definition

The date of effect is not the date the record will become effective in payroll.

Date of effect for permanent employees is the later one of either the date of appointment, or the date of commencement.

For those who are compelled to rejoin because of earlier invalidity retirement, or by virtue of a preserved benefit from an earlier period of service, the date of effect will be the date of commencement.

For those who elect to join PSS, it is the date of the election to join.
