Use

Enter the date on which you want to close the tax year.

For example: In case of monthly employees, if there is a retroactive payroll run for February in March and you want to consider this retroactive February run in the same financial year, then you must maintain the date that falls on the last date of March payroll period or after, but prior to the next payroll period end date.

In monthly payroll if you are running a payroll retroactively for February, 2011 in March, 2011, you must close the tax year 2011 with the date between March 31, 2011 (last date of march payroll period) and April 29, 2011 (day before the April periods end date) so that the payroll results can be considered within the same financial year.
