Definition
Specifies whether the employee contributes to the Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF) and if so, the type of contribution.
What To Do
- Select 0 if the employee does not contribute.
- Select 1 if the employee is making a standard contribution.
Note
UIF is a statutory deduction. Each employee's contribution to the UIF is dependent on their salary being less than the threshold value defined for UIF.
Procedure for System Administrator
The UIF threshold value is stored in Table T511P under the Payroll Parameter UIFTH.

What To Do
- Select 0 if the employee does not contribute.
- Select 1 if the employee is making a standard contribution.
- Select 2 if the employee is participating in the flexible remuneration plan.
Note
Flexible remuneration is a special package that an employer may choose to give to an employee. The employee will receive medical aid benefits paid in full by the employer. The taxable earnings of the employee will then be reduced by the amount of the employer contribution to the fund. Although this function is provided to customers, SAP neither recommends nor supports such practices.

- Select 0 if the employee does not contribute.
- Select 1 if the employee is making a standard contribution.
- Select 2 if the employee is participating in the Provident Fund (Flexible remuneration).
Flexible remuneration is a special package that an employer may choose to give to an employee. The employee will receive pension fund benefits paid in full by the employer. The taxable earnings of the employee will then be reduced by the amount of the employer contribution to the fund.
