Documentation
Definition
In this field, select the type of core competency that is relevant to the unit standard.
Specific Outcomes incorporated in the Unit Standard
Specific Outcomes are statements, which focus on competence outcomes. They are not descriptions of specific procedures or methods used in the demonstration of competence. This is to ensure that unit standards have a broad and exclusive applicability and are able to be registered for a period of time rather than requiring frequent review.
Outcomes go beyond the specification of subject content. They include reference to elements such as:
- Knowledge
- Understanding
- Values
- Skills
- Affective elements
- Scope of learning
- Context of learning
- Level of learning
Therefore, outcomes are the demonstrable and assessable end products of a learning process.
Critical Cross Field
Critical Cross Field is the shortened term for 'Cross Field Education and Training Outcomes'.
These encompass the term's generic/core:
- Skills
- Competencies
- Abilities
- Capabilities
- Essential assessment criteria.
The Critical Cross Field that are given attention within a 'Unit Standard' should be highlighted within the 'Notes' category of the 'Unit Standard'.
These statements capture the relationship of the purpose(s) and specific outcomes to the cross field outcomes.
