Definition

In accordance with the Employment Equity Act, each qualifying employer in South Africa must send an Income Differential Statement to the Department of Labor.

As part of this Income Differential Statement, the employers must list the highest and lowest incomes given to their employees (for each occupational category).

An amount in this field represents the number of employees used to calculate the averages.

Procedure

Examples

There are 100 employees at the Cape to Cairo Trailer Company (CCT) working in the occupational category Clerks. As they executed this report with the number 5 in this field, the system calculated averages as follows:

  • Highest Income Level = five highest paid clerks
  • Lowest Income Level = five lowest paid clerks
