Definition
The grade is the title which situates an employee in a "cadre". This title has "official description".
The grade gives the autorisation to the employee to staff a position which is in line with the grade. The grades of a common hierarchical step are equivalent.
The number of grades and pay scales are restricted. One grade can rely on several pay scales. Each employee (public servant or on contractual basis) has one grade which defines one or more pay scales. The first pay scale is the basic pay scale for the grade.
A grade can be granted by differents processes : only by recruitment (ie by a process of recruitment), by promotion and/or by career development. Some grades are allocated to peculiar groups of public servants (eg : police, ).
