Definition
Indicates that for tax purposes, the retroactive difference amount is taxed in the period when the amount was earned. Since the taxable basis lays in the for-period (period in which the amount was earned), the taxes are calculated with the rules that apply to the for-period.
Once the retroactive difference amount has been calculated, the net difference amount is transferred to the in-period (current period).
Use
If the retroactive difference amount is lesser than the specified threshold, then the When earned radio button defaults to selected.
Note: It is standard system behavior to tax the amount when it was earned. However, you can choose to claim the amount and carry it forward to the current period for taxation purposes. To tax the retroactive difference amount in the current period, select the When paid (Certificate 25) radio button.
Dependencies
The difference amount and when it is taxed are automatically determined as a result of running the Identification of Retroactive Taxable Differences (RPCOUFB0) report. This report references the Limit Retro. Difference Amount (RTDH2) constant, which contains the specified threshold amount.
