Definition
A four-digit code that corresponds to a postal code.
There are two types of postal codes:
- Postal codes defined on district level and assigned to a physical location.
- Specific postal codes assigned to authorities or institutions (and not assigned to physical locations).
A single postal code can have one or more languages assigned. In addition, for each assigned language, a postal code can have more than one name. The different names for a postal code in a specific language are assigned by means of the postal code name variant.
Postal codes are grouped by means of fusion code.
