Documentation
Definition
This is the rule usage code that identifies which files of the Central Personnel Data File (CPDF) submissions are checked by this edit. The maintenance of this field is mandatory, but the default is that the rule is not used for CPDF edits. If the validation being maintained is not a CPDF edit, this field should be 0.
Use
CPDF edits are numbered in the format XXX.YY.Z. The format has the following meaning:
- XXX: The primary field code. This is a three-digit number referring to the field in a field edit, or the primary field in a relationship edit. These numbers are specified in the 'Guide to Central Personnel Data File Edits' issued by the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM).
- YY: The rule number. This is a two-digit number that uniquely identifies the edit of the primary field. The numbers 00 and 01 are reserved for individual field edits, and the remaining numbers refer to relationship edits.
- Z: The rule usage. This is a one-digit number that identifies the rule usage in CPDF, or if it is not a CPDF edit at all. The possible entries are:
- 0 for not a CPDF edit
- 1 for a status file only edit
- 2 for a dynamics file only edit
- 3 for an edit used for both the status and dynamics file.
