Documentation
Definition
Defines if a work tax area is predominant.
This field is only relevant for employees who reside and work in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania (PA) and do not work in their residence Municipality.
This field is not relevant for employees who reside or work in Philadelphia.
Use
The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania (PA) has determined by means of the PA Act 32 that, for employees residing and working in Pennsylvania, the employee's Earned Income Tax (EIT) must always be remitted to the employee's work Tax Collection District (TCD).
However, in the Work Tax Area (0208) infotype you can create more than one record and the records will have different tax areas. In this case you should define in this field which tax area is predominant.
The default value for this field is "No", that is, the tax area is not predominant.
Dependencies
There is no dependency between this field and the Allocation Percentage (ALLPC) field. That is, you can indicate that a tax area is predominant regardless of the employee's working time spent in the tax area.
The value of this field determines how the system fills in the Predominant Tax Authority (P10_PRWTA) field in the TAX and TAXPR tables.
Example
- Your employee does not reside and work in PA: Leave the default value ("No") in this field.
- Your employee resides and works in PA, in the same Municipality: Leave the default value ("No") in this field.
- Your employee resides and works in PA, and he or she resides in Municipality A and works in Municipality B: You can either edit this field and select "Yes", or leave the default value ("No"). In this scenario, editing the field is optional because, if no tax area is defined as predominant, the system defines the first (and only) work tax authority as predominant.
- Your employee resides and works in PA, and he or she resides in Municipality A and works in Municipalities B and C: You must edit this field and select "Yes" for the predominant work tax area.
