Use

Because the Absence Pools infotype (0696) consists of two subtypes - the Foreign Pool subtype (F) and the Home Pool subtype (H) - the list of potential absence pools that is displayed on this screen will likely differ, depending upon the subtype in which you are creating the employee's Absence Pools infotype (0696) record. For your reference, the following explanation differentiates home pools from foreign pools.

  • Home Pools

The absence pool that an employee has chosen to join is called their Home Pool. The employee is called a member of their home pool and follows the rules of the home pool. To become a member, an employee may need to meet certain criteria. Also, in general, the donation of the employee goes to the home pool, and an employee may withdraw from the home pool after all personal certain absence quotas have been depleted. Other absence pools, which are not the home pool of the employee, are called foreign pools.

While maintaining pool attributes, a pool must be defined for a specific employee subgrouping. Later, only employees in the same subgrouping can have this pool as their home pool.

During any single time period, an employee can have only one home pool.

  • Foreign Pools

Absence pools that are not the home pool of the employee are called foreign pools. An employee can either donate unused absence quotas to a foreign pool, or withdraw from a foreign pool.

For foreign pools, no subgrouping check is performed. An employee can choose any pool in the system - except the home pool - as their foreign pool.

During any single time period, an employee can have multiple foreign pools.
