Documentation
Definition
Before you execute the Substantial Presence Test, you may select this checkbox if you wish to exclude all residents (for tax purposes) from this report's personnel selection. In response, the Substantial Presence Test will only include in its personnel selection non-resident aliens who are defined as such in the Residence Status infotype (0094).
Use
The default selection for this checkbox is inactive, meaning that the Substantial Presence Test will include all employees, regardless of residence status, in its personnel selection.
However, if you intend to execute the Substantial Presence Test for a large personnel selection, then you may wish to select this checkbox to narrow the selection, and thereby improve the performance of the report.
If you select this checkbox and execute the report, then the Substantial Presence Test, in response, will narrow its personnel selection to consider only employees who are defined as Non-resident Alien (value A) within the Residence Status field of the Residence Status infotype (0094). Employees who have a different value in this field, or who lack a Residence Status infotype (0094) record altogether, will be excluded from the selection.
Dependencies
Example
Suppose you wish to initiate Form 1042-S reporting, and suppose you are now (in early January) ready to run the Substantial Presence Test to determine which of the 8,750 employees in your organization actually require Form 1042-S submissions.
Rather than running the Substantial Presence Test for the entirety of your employee population, you may select this checkbox to exclude all employees who are not defined as non-resident aliens in the Residence Status infotype (0094), and thus improve the report's performance. In response, when this checkbox is active, the Substantial Presence Test will only consider (for example) the 749 employees in your organization who are defined as non-resident aliens in the Residence Status infotype (0094), and exclude the remaining 8,001 employees from the reporting process.
