Documentation
Definition
The attendance or absence category is assigned to an attendance or absence type. It is used to generate the personal calendar.
Description
The attendance or absence category is a valid absence symbol taken from the employee's personal calendar.
Functionality
This two-character field is already used in dstandard software delivered for Statutory Sick Pay (SSP) and Statutory Maternity Pay (SMP) processing. If the first character is an 'S', then the absence is SSP'able. If it is an 'M', then it is SMP'able.
A second character is now used for Grouping Absences for Absence Evaluation and Payment Schemes (OSP or OMP). The available standard groupings are as follows:
- Occupational Sickness Payment only .S
Occupational Maternity Payment only .I
Industrial Injury Payment only .M - Statutory Sickness Payment only S.
Statutory Maternity Payment only M. - BOTH SSP and OSP SS
BOTH SSP and IIP SI
BOTH SMP and OMP MM - NOT ANY Any other two character combinations
Example
If you have a group of absences that recieve Occupational Sick Pay and Statutory Sick Pay then the field ABSTY in table T554S must contain the value 'SS' for the WHOLE group. If there is an entry of 'SS' in this rule, then ALL of the absence in the WHOLE group will be affected by this rule.
In this way, Entitlement Payment Bands and Non-Payment Patterns can be associated to specific groups of absences in a specific scheme.
