The difference between method '3' and '6' (also '8' and '6' or '2' and '7') is quite simple.
Option '3' uses the ORIGINAL start date of the absence to derive the calendar year that the anniversary should be in. In this way, if an absence spans an entitlement year start date then the previous anniversary is used, therefore penalising the employee.
Option '6' uses the Day Of Absence currently being processed to derive the calendar year that the anniversary should be in. In this way, if an absence spans an entitlement year start date then the enployee's entitlements are renewed on the first day of the new entitlement year and so the employee is not penalised.
The difference between option '3' and option '8' (or '2' and '9') is that although both options, use the ORIGINAL start date of the absence to derive the calendar year that the anniversary should be in, option '3' counts the overlapping absence days in the new year as well as in the old. Where as option '8' DOES NOT count the overlapping absence days in the new year as well as in the old. Option '8' is for Local Government Teachers.
