Short text
Absence valuation rule.
Definition
The absence valuation rule describes absences based on the business demands made of absence valuation in payroll accounting.
Use
The absence valuation rule also influences which figures are used for statistical and cost accounting purposes in that it specifies an assignment to particular value categories. Examples of value categories are paid leave, unpaid leave and unpaid sickness.
Absences can be cumulated according to the value categories for further evaluations in cost assignment and for statistics and factoring.
Example
This valuation rule is used specifically to mark and process "non-qualifying" days of absence. A complete day is when the whole day is covered by one "Entitlement Absence Band" (i.e. Full Pay Sickness). If a day is not covered by one band, but by more than one band, then the day of absence will be considered a "part" day.
If your Absence Payment Scheme incorporates "non-qualifying" days, (i.e. specific days in the year [or in a re-occuring pattern] that are not "covered" by the scheme), then the "non-qualifying" days in the absence will be marked and processed using this valuation rule. These days WILL NOT reduce an employee's entitlements.
There are 2 sorts of Non-qualifying Days; one that will be used by default (i.e. takes priority over the other) and one that is then checked if the first one does not apply (i.e. there is NO default specified or the day is a qualifying day according to the default one.
1) By Default: a Period Work Schedule and a Public Holidays calendar can be used to specify days that DEFINITELY do not reduce an employee's entitlements. (i.e. Non-Termtime for Teachers)
2) Employee Related: Either from the employee's Period Work Schedule or the employee's Maternity Pay Period.
The valuation rules to be used should be set up in standard customising. The Valuation Rule are set up in Standard customising using tables T554L, T554C and then specifically customised for the requirements of an Absence Evaluation Scheme into Valuation Rule Groupings in T5GPBS27.
