Definition
There are three types of interface run. Each is mutually exclusive, i.e. one one type is possible for each interface run.
The choices are as follows;
1) Standard Run
2) Year End Run
3) Re-run a Previous Run.
A "Standard" interface simply takes a "snapshot" of the employee's data on a specific date, the "snapshot" date. The employee's Payroll Data is taken from the Payroll Result that has the most recent Pay Date on or before the "snapshot" date. The employee's Personnel Data is taken from the most recent ACTIVE record on or before the "snapshot" date.
A "Year End" interface simply creates an "A"mendment record for every employee selected. There is NO snapshot taken OR stored on the database as no comparison is necessary to create this type of interface. The employee's Payroll Data is taken from the Payroll Result that has the most recent Pay Date on or before the "Year End" date. The "Year End" date is defined using the "Return Year". The Pension Year starts on 01.04.YYYY and ends on 31.03.ZZZZ for the following year. (If the employee has been paid between the end of the pension year and the end of the tax year then this payroll result is used as the "Year End" payroll result so that the Payroll Data returned to the Pension Provider/Agency will match that returned to the Inland Revenue.
A "Re-run" interface can only be for a previous "Standard" interface. "Year End" interfaces cannot be re-run as their data is not stored in the "snapshot" file as it can be simply re-derived from the database. A "Re-run" interface simply takes the "snapshot" record for the employee of the "standard" run that is being repeated and compares it with the previous "snapshot" held for that employee. Any "A"mendments, "S"tarters or "L"eavers are interfaced as usual.
