Documentation
Definition
Indicates the next eligibility date for a plan. The Next Eligibility Date field enables a plan to be valid up to a specified date rather than over a period of time.
Use
When an eligibility date is defined, it is used in preference to the validity period. If no eligibility date or validity period are defined, then the standard period of the program is used as validity period.
Dependencies
Example
Within Flexible Benefits, many plans are calculated based on months rather than calendar years. However, some plans (such as bicycle plans) require benefits to be calculated on the basis of calendar year.
For example, using standard customizing a bicycle plan extends over a period of 36 months. This means that an employee choosing a bicycle in May 2009 would be allowed to choose a new bicycle in May 2012. In fact, the employee is legally allowed to choose a bicycle in January 2012. The Next Eligibility Date field allows an alternative date to be defined for the plan, enabling the correct eligibility of the plan to be applied.
