Definition

A value type describes and identifies a value.

Description

Values are core objects within processing control. A value is identified and described by its value type.

A data type is assigned to a value type. The following data types exist in processing control:

  • Integers
  • Fixed point number with 2 decimal places
  • Fixed point number with 4 decimal places
  • Character strings
  • Calendar data
  • Value types
  • Undefined

Each data type corresponds to a set of possible specifications for a value. This set can be restricted by assigning a PC value set, which must be a subset. This facilitates more precise control of consistency checks and input help for input fields assigned to this value type.

Customer value types start with a digit.

The meaning of value types depends on the specific processing context.
