Definition

The person's date of birth as specified in his/her official papers usually corresponds to the actual date of birth.

Procedure

If the person's actual date of birth is unknown, the missing information (month or day) in the ID papers is sometimes replaced by '00' or other character string. Enter this string in the system as '00'.

Since these entries are not formally correct, the system cannot use them for calculations.

Two dates are therefore stored in the system if the actual date of birth is unknown.

• The date of birth in the official papers is stored in this field.
• The date of birth used by the system to calculate the person's age is automatically entered on this screen when you press Enter.

The system determines this second date of birth as follows:

• If the day is unknown ('00'), the 15th is used.
• If the month is unknown, the 7th is used.

The result is entered in the second field.

If the date of birth in the passport and the one generated by the system are identical, only one entry is shown on the screen.
