Definition

The variable key can be used if the personnel areas/subareas that are grouped using table T596L need to be controlled separately based on other data (for example, payroll area). BAdI HRPBSDEZV_AGVARKEY has been set up for this purpose. Based on infotype 1 (Organizational Assignment) and, if necessary, by reading additional master data within the BAdI implementation, you can fill the variable key using this BAdI. If the key cannot be filled automatically using the BAdI, the employer must be specified directly using infotype 51 (ASB/SPI Data).

The variable key does not have to be used and can be left blank.

Example

Your company is organized in a kind of matrix: The HR departments carry out master data maintenance only and are subdivided into personnel areas/subareas. Payroll and the subsequent tasks are carried out by payroll offices, which can encompass entire personnel areas/subareas or only parts of these. Payroll offices are represented in the system using the payroll areas.

In this case (in the context of supplementary pensions) an employer would probably be represented by a personnel area/subarea and the payroll area since, for example, payroll could be run for personnel (sub)area A by two payroll offices (1 and 2) and each payroll office has its own membership number at the same SPI. This results in two employers:

Personnel Area     Personnel Subarea     Variable Key     SPI Membership Number

A    A    1    0815

A    A    2    4711
