Definition

The seniority scale is based on the income. In other words, the employee's pensionable income is used to define the rules and employment period scale for an income area. This indicator specifies that the total income is split into subincomes and valuated with the rules for the corresponding income areas.

Example

Pensionable income: 7,800.00DM

Income areas: 001: 0 - 5,000.-DM seniority scale BSP1
002: 5,001 - 8,000.-DM seniority scale BSP2
003: 8,001 - 99,000.-DM seniority scale BSP3

  • Income area 002 is determined without a split. The employment period percentage rate is calculated using scale BSP2 and is applied to the total income of DEM7,800.
  • Income area 001 is determined with a split. The employment period percentage rate is calculated separately with scale BSP1 and BSP2. The percentage rate from scale 0001 is applied to the income of DEM5,000. The percentage rate from scale 0002 is applied to the remaining income of DEM2,800 (7,800 - 5,000).
