Definition
This field contains the employee's identification number (sec. 139b of the German Fiscal Code).
The identification number is used for fiscal purposes and is valid for life. It does not contain any information about the employs or the responsible tax office.

Use
The identification number can be used for employment tax statements starting in 2008. The previous employment tax classification feature (eTIN) is replaced by the identification number.
