Definition

The unique identifier of a subnetwork. A subnetwork is a record that is linked to a network, and which is used to further break the network down. For example, there can be product subnetworks (a subnetwork for oil, a subnetwork for gas, etc.) or geographic subnetworks. For example, network 00001 as a product subnetwork might have any number of subnetworks, for example, one of oil, one for gas, etc.

The concept of subnetwork had more importance in previous PRA functionality. Its main purpose now is that it is used together with the network ID to identify the network. For the system, network ID = network + subnetwork. The two fields are combined to uniquely identify the network in the system.
