Documentation
Definition
Identifies the person or group of people responsible for entering the batch control data.
Responsibility IDs are used in SAP as data and user-specific security measures. The responsibility ID gives a user specific data access priviledges to certain key items in the system, based on the assigned responsibility. This allows the classification of specific items according to the organization's responsibility relationships. For example, a user must have responsibility for a contract to maintain the contract.
A responsibility hierarchy can be created, to allow certain responsibility groups access to specific items. Responsibility is assigned at both the user level and object level.
The responsibility ID consists of three parts:
- Global responsibility
- Group responsibility
- Individual responsibility
As an example, a company might create an accounting responsibility group, a marketing responsibility group, and an engineering responsibility group. Individual responsibility IDs could then be created for each of those groups.
Within Ownership, you can create a responsibility ID per: venture, DOI, and product code.
