Definition
Account categories represent groupings of individual account IDs in Journal Entry.
Account categories are general types of accounts, and can have more than one account assigned to them. For example, Taxes Payable could be an account category, and under that, you could have an account called Taxes Payable - Oil, and an account called Taxes Payable - Gas.
Account categories are set up in customizing.
