Definition
The volume class code indicates whether a measured volume is actual, estimated, or designated.
The volume types have different meanings:
Actual: Is the volume that was actually measured. It is used in allocation.
Estimated: You don't actually measure the volume, you estimate the volumetric result. Estimated volume is not used in allocation.
Designated: You can enter volume at well level, for example, which is neither actual measured volume, nor estimated volume. Designated volume, unlike estimated volume, is used in the allocation process. You might use it, for example, prior to going live, to enter inventory volume for a month prior to going live. You would then key in the designated volume at the well level, but there would be no actual volume for that volume.
