Definition
A severance tax type is a two-character ID that identifies the type of tax which applies to the production of oil and gas products.
Severance taxes represent costs of the upstream company. Most of the severance tax types are state-specific.
Examples of severance tax types follow:
- PR = Production tax
- CN = Conservation tax
- FP = Federal pollution tax
- PT = Petroleum + Gas Fund Tax
- EN = Environmental tax
- RF = Restoration fee
Note: SAP delivers many severance tax types in the SAP for Oil & Gas solution. If you as an SAP customer add a severance tax type, you must enter an ID that begins with the letter Z.
