Documentation
Definition
The sequence number is used as an item number to distinguish multiple storage objects which may exist for a single reference object (e.g. customer or business location).
Procedure
You may enter your own alphanumeric identifier in this field or leave it blank, in which case the system will allocate a number automatically. The system will reject duplicate storage object sequence numbers for any specific reference object.
Examples
A customer has four tanks at a specific 'Ship to' location. Information about the customer's tanks is needed to support certain planning processes. As the tanks belong to an external party, there is no direct mapping of these tanks to an existing storage entity (e.g. storage location or bin). It is therefore necessary to assign a free sequence number to differentiate between the customer's tanks.
Dependencies
The possibility of defining a free sequence number is dependent on the access mode by which the storage object characteristic document is accessed.
