Definition

This indicator determines the type of materials which can be stored with containers of the chosen storage object class, and the conversion routines used for the linear to volume calculation. The fields which are available during the maintenance transactions for the storage object will depend on what the indicator is.

A field 'unpumpable quantity' for example will only be available when the usage indicator is set to 'B' (bulk materials) and 'O' (Silo Management related tanks), but not for an indicator set to 'P' (packaged goods).

Basic usage indicator:

- 'B' allows you to calculate volumes from heights, using strapping tables with linear and volume entry. The calculation is based on a linear interpolation of height and volume.

- 'O' provides enhanced linear to volume calculations, using strapping tables with height, volume per height and volume information. There is the possibility to apply floating roof, thermal expansion as well as water corrections. In addition, it is possible to activate a calibration history, and to create new strapping tables at the time of recalibration without losing the old tables.
