Documentation
Definition
A bulk storage object may have a roof which floats on the bulk material contained inside. The mass or weight of the floating roof will therefore exert a pressure on the material contained in the storage object. In order to correctly calculate the density of the material it may be necessary to apply a correction factor calculated from the mass of the floating roof.
Procedure
Enter the mass and unit of measure of the floating roof. The field type of the mass field is floating decimal point.
Examples
A company has to carry out a tax valuation on hydrocarbon products held in a number of silos. Temperature and density corrections must be applied to calculate the equivalent volume of product in the standard taxation unit. By entering a floating roof mass, an allowance can be made for the floating roof characteristics of each silo during the calculation of the product density.
