Definition
Determines for an outpatient order, the maximum number of containers of the administrable drug may be printed on a prescription or given to the patient (maximum dispensing quantity per event).
Use
The system will use the dispensing quantity to calculate a proposal but also to initially calculate the order duration and the number of repeat events. Repeat events are necessary if the ordered quantity is greater than the maximum dispensing quantity per prescription or per dispensing to the patient.
Dependencies
Example
The physician prescribes the patient 2 tablets per day of a drug which is available in a container of 20. The dispensing quantity per event is one container. The system will calculate 10 days as the order duration, as one container (20 tablets) covers the order (2 tablets daily) for exactly 10 days.
If the dispensing quantity is 2 containers, the system will calculate 20 days as the duration of the order.
However, if the maximum dispensing quantity is restricted to 1 container, a repeat event is necessary in order to be able to dispense the ordered quantity of 2 containers.
