The scheduling type in the appointment template specifies for which scheduling type an appointment is to be planned.

Example
A central reservations desk preregisters patients for outpatient examinations. For this purpose, it creates a clinical order for each patient. It enters the treatment organizational units and the scheduling types for the various examination appointments in the items of this order. Since the appointments are planned for a later point in time, the scheduling types are part of the appointment template.
