Definition
Controls the calculation, assignment and payment of health insurance contributions.
Use
The health insurance indicator is a supplement to the official contribution group key and is only used internally.
0: No insurance liability
For employees, coded with the indicator 0, no HI contributions are determined in payroll calculation.
Use the indicator 0 for the following employee groups:
- Seasonal workers
- Part-time employees who are not insured in statutory health insurance fund.
1. General contribution
Use the indicator 1 for employees who are liable for statutory health insurance.
2: Increased contribution until December 31, 2008
Use the indicator 2 for employees who are liable for statutory health insurance, but have no continued pay entitlement.
The health insurance companies collect a higher contribution from these employees.
3: Reduced contribution
Use the indicator 3 for employees who are liable for statutory health insurance, but have no sick pay entitlement.
The health insurance companies collect a lower contribution from these employees.
5: Voluntarily insured
Use the indicator 5 for employees who are either
- voluntarily insured in the statutory health insurance, or
- privately insured.
6: Voluntarily reduced
Use the indicator 6 for employees who have no sick pay entitlement and who are either
- voluntarily insured with statutory health insurance, or
- privately insured.
The health insurance companies collect a lower contribution from these employees.
7: Agricultural worker HI
Use the indicator 7 for employees who are already insured in the agricultural health insurance.
For these employees, only the employer contribution for health insurance is calculated.
8: Flat-rate contribution
For employees coded with the indicator 8, a flat-rate health insurance contribution is calculated.
Use the indicator 8 for part-time employees who do not have SI liable occupation.
9: Retiree HI contribution
Use the indicator 9 for retirees insured in the retiree health insurance.

Use
In the social insurance Germany infotype (0013), every employee is assigned a health insurance indicator.
Depending on the indicator, define the rules that are used to calculate the contribution in the available table.
