Use
You use the step range of the averaging period, together with the start date of averaging period and the end date of averaging period, to determine the dates at which the yield curve is to be read.
If you do not specify a step range, you cannot specify the end date of the averaging period. The yield curve is then read at the start date of the averaging period, and the system is unable to calculate any average values.
If you specify the step range, the system determines a set of calculation dates; the first calculation date is the start date for the averaging period. The system then uses this date as the basis for the remaining calculation dates, until it reaches the specified end date.
On the calculation dates, the system reads the interest rates from the yield curve. The system calculates an average from these values using their step periods as a weighting.

Example
If the start date is 01.01.2000, the end date is 12.31.2000, and the step range is 20 days, the calculation dates are the 01.01.2000 and 01.20.2000 and so on. The weightings are 20 days and 11 days. The exact number of days used as the weighting depends upon the interest calculation method used.
