Definition
The number of steps determines how securities in foreign currency are depreciated. With this kind of security, the depreciation can be caused by the following risk factors:
- Exchange rate
- Securities price
The one-step procedure enables depreciation to be taken into account but without differentiating between the two responsible factors.
In the two-step procedure, you can decide whether depreciation due to the change in the exchange rate comes first and depreciation due to the price change second, or vice versa.
