Definition
The balance type is a sort criterion for balances aggregated on base portfolio level. The balance type, together with the asset/liability indicator, is used to separate out the aggregated balances.
This separation of balances into various summarization structures is necessary since the balance types are summarized differently according to the level of detail required for the individual Risk Management evaluations. The balance type helps control this summarization process.
