Definition
The external transaction number provides a link between the transaction in SAP Banking, and the front-end system in which the transaction is managed. When a transaction is transferred to SAP Banking, subsequent changes in the front office can only be accurately reproduced in SAP Banking if the transaction can be identified. It is up to the user to ensure that the external transaction number is unique.
