Definition

The category of the characteristic hierarchy controls how values that are not part of the specified characteristic hierarchy are handled when the portfolio hierarchy is generated. There are two categories:

• ' ': Non-selective characteristic hierarchy
  The values that are not part of the characteristic hierarchy are included in the portfolio hierarchy.
  
• '9': Selective characteristic hierarchy
  The values that are not part of the characteristic hierarchy are not included in the portfolio hierarchy.
  

If no characteristic hierarchy was assigned to the characteristic when the portfolio hierarchy was defined, then the content of this field is irrelevant.
