Definition

The cash flow indicator controls how cash flows are treated in risk evaluations:

  • NPV analysis: You must set the indicator. However, the setting of the cash flow indicator has no further significance for NPV analysis (Exception: cash flows with cash flow indicator 8 (reinvesting) are not processed by discounting)
  • Gap analysis/ALM: This indicator controls which cash flows can be grouped together in position evaluations, cash flow evaluations, and liquidity evaluations. You can use it as a selection criterion in the data relevant for display in ALM

The system makes the following distinctions when determining the cash flow indicator:

  • Transactions with a flow type

The system derives the cash flow indicator from the field 'Calculation category' in the flow type. Otherwise, you need to assign the flow type to the cash flow indicator.

  • Securities with update types

You assign the update type to the cash flow indicator in Customizing.

  • Generic transaction

The cash flow indicator is stored in Customizing for each cash flow type.

  • BCA accounts, SEM accounts, variable transactions

The cash flow indicator is set at either 1 (for example, simulated interest) or 2 (for example, balances) for each cash flow.

  • Summarized loans

The cash flow indicator is stored in Customizing for each view and summarization rule.
