Documentation
Definition
The reference rate is used to calculate the trading terms contribution. The price (rate) paid by the trading department is compared with this reference rate. The reference rate reflects the fair market price or equilibrium price.
Use
Depending on the product category, the reference rate can be:
- an amount (with stocks, for example)
- a percentage rate (with bonds and debentures, for example)
- an exchange rate (with foreign exchange, for example)
- an index value (with options on stock indices, for example)
Maintenance
With those position flows for which a fixed cash flow can be determined, you can let IS-B calculate the reference rate as a quotient comprising the net present value and nominal amount of the flow on the basis of the selected yield curve.
