Definition

The interest term determines which MCM rate should be assigned to a transaction in an interest determination interval.

When calculating the funds transfer rate for a costing period, the transaction value is valued using an alternative rate from the money and capital markets.
Depending on what is needed, the transaction is assigned a fixed, average, weighted or a daily determined MCM rate.

The alternative rate depends on the yield curve type (reference interest, quotation type, etc.), the currency, and the term.
