Definition
The risk cost represents an imputed insurance premium for (systematic) default risk. The risk rate is calculated as the average of the actual defaults in the past, for example, and is carried by all loan transactions as a standard risk rate.
Use
As an imputed cost component, the risk cost is taken into account in the periodic contribution margin scheme for a single transaction. It is determined within the flexible procedures on the basis of specified bank surcharge rates.
