Documentation
Definition
The contract value amount is the amount of the base underlying for an option or a future. The currency of the contract value amount is always equal to the position currency. The amount is unique for each position.
Example
- A contract value amount of DM 250,000 for the purchase of a future on a federal bond means that you have the right to subsribe to a federal bond to the value of DM 250,000.
- In the case of an index future, the contract value amount is the amount corresponding to one index point. For example, in the case of a DAX future of DM 100, this is calculated per DAX point.
Use
The contract value amount is used to calculate the opportunity volume or market volume.
