Documentation
Definition
Deposit protection costs arise from payment commitments to a deposit insurance fund. In a case of bankruptcy, this fund, which is serviced by a banking group, covers the obligation of the failed bank towards non-banks up to a certain amount.
Use
The deposit protection costs are included as an imputed costing component in the periodic contribution margin scheme of a single transaction. They are determined within the flexible procedures via the definition of mark-up rates specific to each bank.
