Definition
The symbolic account enables you to group value types together that are processed the same way for posting.
Example
Employee contributions and employer contributions are both paid by the employer. Both contributions (value types) are a claim and are posted to the same account.
Payments however are posted to a different account and therefore need a different symbolic account.
